About the Platform of Hope

Now in our seventh year, Platform of Hope stands as a testament to what’s possible when families of color are trusted to lead, define their own success, and build together in community. What began as a pilot initiative in 2018—rooted in the vibrant yet rapidly gentrifying Adams Morgan neighborhood—has grown into a deeply rooted movement of resilience, connection, and collective vision.

Founded by a coalition of community anchors—Jubilee Housing, Jubilee JumpStart, Mary’s Center, and Sitar Arts Center—Platform of Hope was created to disrupt cycles of displacement and marginalization by placing families at the center of the conversation. Our mission remains clear: to amplify the voices of Black and Brown families in DC, connect them with resources and each other, and confront the systemic barriers that keep opportunity out of reach.

We don’t provide quick fixes. We offer sustained partnership. Through personalized coaching, trusted referrals, and a model that honors social capital, we support families in shaping their own futures—grounded in dignity, healing, and hope.

About the Fundraiser: Striving for the Future of Families

This year’s fundraiser is more than a moment—it’s a marker.

Striving for the Future of Families celebrates the strength of the families we walk alongside, the vision we hold collectively, and the future we’re committed to building—together.

In 2023, we completed our first major milestone: 100 families served since launch. In 2024, we began Phase II with a renewed strategic plan. Now, in 2025, we are not just reflecting—we are deepening.

We are working alongside new families and nearly 70 alumni—graduates of our program who now mentor, advocate, and lead within their own circles. They are proof that transformation doesn’t happen in isolation. It happens through relationship, through listening, and through long-term investment.

We envision a DC where families of color thrive not just economically, but holistically—across housing, education, health, and community life. This fundraiser directly supports that vision.

Every gift. Every auction item. Every shared story. It all fuels the work.
